I am what they call a broke college student with a rich executive appetite. I have a passion for anything food related and am always happy to be a penny saver. When you are a college student, living in either a dorm room or in a tiny apartment, it may seem as if you aren’t able to make the style of scrumptious and healthy meals that you want. You can’t live off of plain Ramen noodles or peanut butter & jelly sandwiches for your whole college career. The purpose of this blog is to show simple, easy, healthy and cheap ways to make gourmet food on a budget. It'll even prove there are creative ways to cook the foods you know and love.
I’ve learned after my three years of college that the phrase “Freshman 15” and “Sophomore 60” do actually happen. That is why I believe it is important for incoming, returning and finishing college students to be able to have recipes that not only will they like but that are healthy and affordable. Most of the time you can make great meals with ingredients you already have or that your parents have (hopefully) sent in a care package or two. Not everyone is going to be a five star chef in their college career, but everyone has to eat.
This blog will encompass recipes ranging from breakfast, lunch and dinner. It will also have fun snack ideas, grab & go’s, cocktails for the twenty-one plus that don’t live on a dry campus and the places to get all of the essential goodies to make these recipes happen. There
will be links to find specific recipes, request something and even leave comments. The recipes and ideas posted will be simple, time friendly and fun, while also staying absolutely delicious!
Let’s say goodbye to the extra college pounds and hello to healthy and budgeted Dourmet eating!
Bon Appetite my fellow students
Abby, you've already made great progress with your blog! I love your ideas and especially the pictures that go along with your step-by-step recipes. I'm a visual learner, so they're very helpful for me. I think your meal ideas would be a great resource for readers of my blog too.
